KDE goes cross-platform with Windows, Mac OS X support
The open-source KDE desktop environment is making the jump across platforms with broad support for Windows and Mac OS X. The core KDE desktop programs, the KOffice suite, and the Amarok music player are actively being ported. - By Ryan Paul | Published: January 23, 2008 - 09:49AM CT

So, i couldn't resist the dragon. I'm currently running the install on my XP virtual PC. Let's see how it goes. O.0 more later...
UPDATE 01/30/08
Ok so things did not go as planned!! but i know why O.o I did not have SP2 installed on my VirtualPC WinXP intall.
so this caused some problems..i'm currently installing SP2 and plan to give it another shot. BUT is seems that i need to un-install FlyaKyteOSX first since it also creates problems...boo hoo!
BUT this IS the beauty of a having a virtual pc. I can test anything on it without the woes of messing with my original system. WOot woot.
So my WinXP computer crashed. I'm still trying to figure out if its the mother board or the HD. Since its about time i get a decent machine i set out an purchased a new Compaq Dual Core, with 2GB or ram and Vista.
While I'm enjoying the speed of this new machine i can't wait to slap a new video card in it to really see some performance. I'm blown away by how much mem Vista uses!!!
Anyways, the most fun i've had since my purchase is Virualization!!!
Here's a screen capture of VMware Player booting Fedora 8
But most of my attention has been on Virtual PC. It is pretty flexible though they claim not to support most of the OS I'm running on it. Here is great list of what actually runs on VPC
Why not "Gutsy" ver 7.10???
Apparently VPC only supports a PS2 mouse, and Ubuntu 7.10 does not?!!!
Kinda disappointing, but I'm sure the Ubuntu team will be fixing this in the new releases.
I also have XP running on another VPC with the a custom theme from FlyaKyteOSX *-* ...so pwerty!
Kexi is a Free/Libre and Open-Source integrated data management application, a long awaited Open Source competitor for products like Microsoft Access. Kexi can be used for creating database schemas, inserting data, performing queries, and processing data.
This project now officially leaves very little that MS desktop does that Linux cannot do. With so many world goverments making the switch and developer communities in the linux community being so strong, i don't doubt that free software will soon start ringing loud in many more markets. I have successfully set up Apache, MySQL, and PHP on my Ubuntu box at home. I had Dapper Drake but had not put it to good use except for experimenting with some virtualization software.
I read it was easier to upgrade to Feisty with a clean install so i popped the live cd in and had the OS running in under and hour. Then i proceeded to install the Apache server, MySQL database and PHP.
this setup will help me test server wares locally.
